The column of six, fifteen inch faced irregular cubes was cast from plaster in 1972 and acquired by the Art Trust in 1983.
Faucett was a student of Eric Gill in the techniques of engraving and letter cutting and attended Chelsea School of Art and the Slade. He worked as an assistant to Henry Moore.
Typically he liked to create columns or modular abstract shapes of plaster working the surface. This example is like a stack of building blocks which could be reassembled into a different order.
