About
This website is the research archive of the Friends of Harlow Sculpture and Gibberd Gallery. This website will contain access to details of every sculpture, and the sculptor, that is publicly accessible in Harlow.
This site is intended to be a more easily navigated repository of the research, photographs, background notes and other reference material for the sculptures and their artists in the Harlow collection that was originally collated in 2017 for the ‘Friends of Harlow Sculpture and the Gibberd Gallery’ (FoHSGG) by Lin Hilton, for the purpose of study and giving information about the Town sculpture collection.
It is intended that this is a repository for researchers, tour guides, Sculpture Guardians, members of the Friends of Harlow Sculpture and the Harlow Arts Trust, rather than as a public facing web site, and so the focus in on content rather than presentation, but this may morph over time. It is hoped that Friends, and those with knowledge of, and an interest in, Harlow’s sculpture collection will contribute stories, information and images as comments to the articles and these will be periodically folded into the main content, so that this site is a constantly evolving and improving fount of knowledge of Harlow’s sculpture collection.
Readers are encouraged to visit and view the works wherever possible. See the Harlow Sculpture Map produced and published by Harlow Art Trust. This is available free at the Gibberd Gallery, updated and reprinted 2014. www.harlowarttrust.org.uk www.gibberdgallery.co.uk
