Clare Bigger

Born 1967 Brought up in Africa. Lives and works in Burnley, Lancashire.
MRBS member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
Studied Fine Art at South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education. Has won many awards:

  • Regional winner of Livewire,
  • Reader’s Digest.
  • Prince’s Youth Business Trust and
  • Art Prize from Society of Wildlife artist,
  • Mall Galleries, and the Spelthorne Design Award.

Energise
2010
Stainless steel

Ht 6.5 m Harlow Leisurezone Carpark.
Commissioned by Harlow Sports Trust for the opening of the Leisurezone sports facility.

Bigger is a figurative sculptor who works mostly in steel. Her works range in size from studio to corporate and public art 10cm – 10 metres. She has worked for EMI. Birmingham Midshires Building Society, Taylor Woodrow and the Jerwood Foundation. She sells through the Bohun Gallery.
Her subject matter is based on animals, gymnasts and dancers. Her interest in Tae Kwon-do (she has a black belt) and sports are reflected in her depiction of movement in her works.
